Instead of the insertion of needles, acupressure is used to relieve a variety of symptoms and pain.

Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. The development of Swedish massage is credited to Per Henrik Ling though the Dutch practitioner Johan Georg Mezger adopted the French names to denote the basic strokes.

The essential oils used in aromatherapy are the life force of plants from which they have been extracted. To reduce the potency of these oils, you can dilute them by mixing them with carrier oils. These oils affect your mood. They enter through our olfactory system and affect the nervous system, thus improving mood and relaxing or energizing us. These "plant oil hormones" when diluted in a massage base/carrier oil (i.e. virgin coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sesame oil, avocado oil, macademia oil, just to name a few) can be massaged on your body, inhaled, added to your bath or sprayed in the air. When you take "Aromatherapy Massage" with these oils, they are absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin.

      Bentosa Therapy Massage
      (Suction Cupping)

The modern world of healing has embraced another wonderful ancient technique that has powerful results. Bentosa (Massage Cupping) is a modified version of "cupping therapy," which has been used extensively in Chinese medicine for several thousand years.

By creating suction and negative pressure, Bentosa is used to drain excess fluids and toxins; stimulate the peripheral nervous system; bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin; and loosen adhesions, connective tissue and stubborn knots in soft tissue.

There are two main Bentosa cupping techniques: stationary and moving. Stationary cups are placed on the skin and left for a period of five to 15 minutes in one location, or four to six cups may be applied and removed cyclically in a technique called "flash cupping." These are the methods most commonly used in Chinese medicine. Moving (or "massage cupping") is the more commonly used form of cupping among massage therapists and other health care practitioners. Prior to applying the cup, oil is administered to the skin to facilitate smooth movement and palpably discover the areas of tension and congestion. Create the vacuum and place the cup on the affected area, then glide it over the surface. A cup may be "parked" for a short time on stubborn knots or over inflamed joints or tissue. Cupping can be used on the neck, shoulders, back, sacral area, hip, abdomen, thigh, upper arms and calves.

      Thai-Herbal Ball Compress

Known in Thailand as นวดแผนโบราณ (Nuad phaen boran), meaning "ancient/ traditional massage", Thai-Yoga Massage originated in India and is based on ayurveda and yoga. It was believed that the massage art was brought over to Thailand by Shivago Komarpaj over 2500 years ago. The technique combines massage with yoga-like positions during the course of the massage; the northern style emphasizes stretching while the southern style emphasizes acupressure.

The healing practice of Thai-Herbal Compress Therapy dates back nearly 5,000 years. This herbal therapy was designed to relieve pain and inflammation. A selection of therapeutic herbs, including prai, ginger, turmeric and lemongrass, are wrapped in a muslin compress, steamed and then applied to the body in gentle pressing, circular and rolling movements. In Thailand, the herbal compress is called luk pra kob, translated as “herbal pressing sphere.” To make the compress, a combination of healing herbs is bundled together in accordance with ancient recipes, steamed and placed directly on the skin to soothe muscular aches and swelling.

Ayurveda (Devanāgarī: आयुर्वॆद, the 'science of life') is a system of traditional medicine native to India, and practiced in other parts of the world as a form of alternative medicine. In Sanskrit, the word Ayurveda comprises the words āyus, meaning 'life' and veda, meaning 'science'. Evolving throughout its history, Ayurveda remains an influential system of medicine in South Asia.

It was developed by vaidyas (practitioners of Ayurveda) in Kerala, India for use in sukhachikitsa (restorative therapy) and can be one of the steps involved in Panchakarma. The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiras 'head' and dhara 'flow'. The liquids used in Shirodhara depend on what is being treated, but can include oil, milk, buttermilk, coconut water, or even plain water. Shirodhara has been used to treat eye diseases, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, graying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo, Ménière's disease and certain types of skin diseases like psoriasis. Philippine Native Massage have been practiced in the Philippines for many centuries now. Although hilot therapy is indigenously Filipino, it has traces of influence from traditional Chinese medicine, Indian Ayurveda, and the Yunani-Tibb medical traditions of Greece and Persia.

Hilot is a Filipino traditional healing art which include paligo (bath with flowers abd herbs, believed to have healing properties), oslob (inhalation of steam from infusions of air-dried aromatic herbs), dinalisay (decoctions of a mixture of native medicinal herbs), kisig galing (biomagnetic energy healing), unang lana (virgin coconut oil), tapik kawayan (tapping of bamboo sticks to affected body parts for increasing fluid circulation and releasing of stagnant energy).

Dagdagay is native foot massage practiced in the Mountain Province, specifically in Sagada, Bauko, Besao, Tadian and Sabangan. Also known as "kol-kolis," Dagdagay uses two sticks to massage the feet in rolling and scratching motions from the heel to toes to stimulate blood circulation. Young boys who traditionally practiced this massage on their elders would use sticks to cleanse the soles. Similar to the Xiamen foot reflexology and the Thai-Yoga foot massage, Dagdagay is an authentic Filipino foot massage that has been used for centuries and is now redefining ancient and modern natural therapy.

      Water Yoga

The most famous water therapy is Water Shiatsu which uses gentle movement & acupressure for relaxation. Although this method can be practiced in any shallow body of water but to get its full benefit if carried out in warm mineral water. To get started, you need a partner to help you in certain steps as you go along.

Because of the unique properties of water, people of different fitness and age levels can safely enjoy Water Yoga. Conditions such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, obesity and others can make traditional yoga practice on land extremely difficult. Gravity during standing poses (“asanas’) may also be too great for deconditioned individuals just beginning physical activity after illness or injury. But buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure of the water support the body in all directions making most standing yoga poses easier. Over time practicing the poses in water will lead to greater strength and stability. Often people move on to broaden their yoga practice on land after training in the water.
